Physical Education and Sport
At Hillside First School, we believe that physical education should be an essential part of every child’s school experiences, and we promote daily physical well-being for every learner.
Physical education develop’s the children’s knowledge, skills and understanding, so that they can perform with increasing skill and confidence in a range of physical activities. These include dance, games, gymnastics, athletics and outdoor activities.
Physical education promotes an understanding in children of their bodies in action and the skills of cooperation, teamwork and respect. It promotes positive attitudes towards a healthy lifestyle for their future.
We are fortunate to have, in our school grounds, an excellent environment for outdoor physical education, and we offer a range of curricular and extra-curricular opportunities to inspire all of our children to participate fully and to achieve a minimum of 30 minutes of daily exercise.
Stop Press: School Games Award: GOLD!!! We have been awarded School Games Gold Award. Congratulations go to all of our children, our staff and members of our school community who have helped to make this a reality. Well done, everyone!
School Sport Premium
We welcome the government’s commitment to sport in primary schools through the School Sport Premium. This funding is given to schools to promote sport as part of the Olympics ‘inspire a generation’ message.
We have used the documents published by the Ofsted and the DfE (shown below) to support us in assessing and auditing our provision of PE and identifying how to spend our Premium.
